Manchester music legend Morrissey has announced he will perform a massive homecoming concert in Manchester this Summer. The show, which will be the former Smiths frontman's only UK performance of 2012, will take place at Manchester Arena on Saturday 28th July.
The last time Morrissey performed in Manchester was back in 2009 when he played two sell-out gigs at the Manchester Apollo celebrating his 50th birthday. Morrissey heads out to Japan later this month for a run of live dates before visiting Asia for a full tour. The singer-songwriter will then visit the US before the homecoming concert in Manchester.
Rumours have been circulating about a possible Smiths reunion later this year, 30 years since the band first formed. Former bandmate Johnny Marr said last month that he would reform the band if the “coalition government steps down”.
