Superstar drum and bass producer DJ Fresh has claimed that he'd have no problems with featuring on Simon Cowell's forthcoming new X-Factor style DJ talent show.
The much talked about new show, which has gathered a lot of criticism from actual DJs and the underground music scene, has been featuring in the press a lot as of recent and is said to be Cowell's new venture into expanding his broad range of business in the music scene, and he's apparently teamed up with Will Smith's Overbook Entertainment to put it on.
So, Digital Spy decided to ask one of the highest-profile DJs what they thought about the show and whether they'd feature as a judge – and it seems 'Hot Right Now' star DJ Fresh wouldn't say 'no' should Cowell come asking.
“Yeah [I would judge], if it meant I could carry across the scepticism of where I'm from - which is something they probably need,” Fresh told the site. “If I didn't really think about it my answer would probably be no, but the more I've thought about it I think I would have a different perspective than the other people on the panel.”
He was then asked whether he thought there would be any respectable DJ's found on the show, to which he replied: “I think everybody assumes the answer to that is no, but I think the one thing X Factor has really highlighted is the way music promotion is changing. It's becoming more about people interacting with something they think they should want. Although you can be sceptical about The X Factor and the people that come out of it, ultimately it's the public who determines who's popular and who wins.”
He continued: “I think it will be interesting and I'm sure there will be plenty of talented people who come through it. Because dance music is an important part of British culture, it's great that it's getting that kind of spotlight.”
