English indie-rockers The Vaccines have revealed why they’ve put out two albums - as well as a load of EPs, stand-alone singles, and a live album - in such a short period of time.
The award-winning band, who formed in just 2010, released their debut album in March last year, but instead of ride off its success (it hit #4 in the UK Albums charts), they decided to keep writing, recording and releasing - as well as touring - and will release their next album on September 3rd.
Explaining their decision to release quickly rather than slowly, frontman Justin Young told The Sun: “We’ve written two albums, put out a live album, an EP and two standalone singles in 14 months," he says. "It is a rare thing to have a new album ready in such a short time. But it’s how music used to be and how it should be.”
Young continued: “Waiting longer than that, as many bands do, is no good for the fans and no good for us either. We don’t want to go out and play the same songs to the same people. Then you’re cabaret and the one thing The Vaccines aren’t is a cabaret band.”
Fans of the band will be able to catch The Vaccines performing tracks new and old at Reading and Leeds Festival later this summer. Check the link below to find tickets.
