Aerosmith And Carrie Underwood: It's True!

After weeks of persistent rumours it's been confirmed that former American Idol winner Carrie Underwood will perform a duet with Steven Tyler on Aerosmith's new album 'Music From Another Dimension'.

ImageTheBoot.com quotes Mike Mullaney, musical director of Boston radio's mix 104.1, who broke the intriguing news that “The surprise track (on the Boston band's forthcoming record) is a duet — and [Steven Tyler] recorded the duet with Carrie Underwood. People should think back to the one that Bon Jovi did with Jennifer Nettles from Sugarland (‘Who Says You Can’t Go Home’) — that kind of vibe.” It won't be the first time the former American Idol duo have worked together, teaming up for a special performance at the 2011 ACM Awards (Academy of Country Music) as well as taping a Crossroads special around the time of this year's Super Bowl.

However, it seems that not everyone in the Aerosmith camp was initially convinced about the validity of the duet. Mullaney continues “ At first, the rest of the band didn’t want to put it on there but their label convinced them, ‘Guys, this will get you airplay in red states.’ So that was that”. Whilst the track's title has yet to be confirmed Tyler recently told Rolling Stone magazine, when asked if the album was full of rock songs, there was a tune he'd written on the record called 'Beautiful', which his band mates felt was “off the beaten path and not Aerosmith”. It seems he put his foot down and, in combination with the powers that be, the rest of the band relented. The decision is seen by many as a smart strategical move, because Carrie Underwood's status as a hugely popular contemporary country artist could see the band expanding their existing fan base in the same way that Bon Jovi managed with their aforementioned country collaboration.

On top of that, former American Idol contestant Lauren Alaina revealed in March that she'd also recorded backing vocals for a track on the upcoming Aerosmith album, due to be released on November 6th. At present, we're relieved to inform you that Will Young, Gareth Gates and Darius will not be making any contributions to 'Music From Another Dimension'.
