Twisted Sister frontman Dee Snider has released an official statement regarding the use of his song 'We're Not Gonna Take It' by Republican Paul Ryan in his political campaign to become the Vice President of The United States of America.
It has been made clear that Dee does not support Paul Ryan and the statement basically tells Ryan to stop playing the song. The below statement was released by Dee to Benjy Sarlin, campaign reporter for TPM in Washington, DC:
"I emphatically denounce Paul Ryan's use of my song "Were Not Gonna Take It" as recorded by my band Twisted Sister. There is almost nothing on which I agree with Paul Ryan, except perhaps the use of the P90X.
Dee Snider."
'We're Not Gonna Take It' joins an extensive list of songs that musicians have asked politicians to stop using during their campaigns. Rockers Silversun Pickups recently requested that Republican nominee Mitt Romney stop using their song 'Panic Switch'.
In response to Dee's statement, Ryan's spokesman Brandon Buck returned a concise email saying: "We're Not Gonna Play It anymore."
