Fired HMV Staff Overtake Official Twitter Account To Spill Beans On Redundancies

Staff which have been affected by HMV’s entrance into administration have hit Twitter to publicise what they feel is the company unfairly firing a number of workers, even using the company’s official Twitter account to spill the beans.
The tweeting began just under an hour ago, though all of the tweets coming from HMV’s official account were quickly removed. Luckily, Stereoboard were quick enough to catch them - check them out below.
The tweets read: “We’re tweeting live from HR where we’re all being fired! Exciting!! #hmvXFactorFiring.
They continued: ”There are 60 of us being fired at once! Mass execution, of loyal employees who love the brand. Sorry we’ve been quiet for so long. Under contract, we’ve been unable to say a word, or - more importantly - tell the truth.”
“Under usual circumstances, we'd never dare do such a thing as this. However, when the company you dearly love is being ruined and those hard working individuals, who wanted to make hmv great again, have mostly been fired, there seemed no other choice. Especially since these accounts were set up by an intern (unpaid, technically illegal) two years ago. So really, what have we to lose? It's been a pleasure folks! Best wishes to you all!”
Comically, they also tweeted: “Just overheard our managing director (he’s staying, folks) ask “How do I shut down Twitter?”
Since the short-lived outburst, a separate account - set up in the wake of the company entering administration - has continued the tirade, tweeting: “For the record, @HMVtweets was NOT 'hacked', the company were stupid enough to fire the people who ran the account without changing the p/w.”
ITV News reports that 190 redundancies have been made across the Companies Head Office and distribution network. No redundancies across the retail network have been made, with all stores remaining open to trade.
Nick Edwards, joint administrator for HMV, has just released the following statement:
"Since our appointment as Administrators over two weeks ago, we have been assessing the financial position of HMV. Following this review, a number of redundancies at the head office and distribution centres have been made.
Although such decisions are always difficult, it is a necessary step in restructuring the business to enhance the prospects of securing its future as a going concern.
We have been very pleased with the level of interest in the business as a going concern, whilst the response from customers has demonstrated the demand to see HMV remain on the high street.
Equally, the support received from suppliers has been very positive and has enabled us to continue trading during the administration. As a result of all of these factors, I remain hopeful we will be able to secure a future for a restructured business."
