After two years of relentless touring in North America, Europe, Russia, China, Hong Kong, Southeast Asia and Australia, The Ocean have resurfaced with what could be their deepest and most trailblazing piece of work to date, 'Pelagial'.
The album is a progressive musical journey; written, recorded, mixed and to-be-performed-live as one single 53-minute piece of music. Mixed and mastered by Jens Bogren (Opeth, Katatonia, Witchcraft) at Fascination Street Studios in Örebrö, Sweden, 'Pelagial' is set to be released on April 29th in the UK through Metal Blade Records.
'Pelagial' will be released as a double CD, including a vocal and an instrumental version of the album. Instrumental samples of tracks, as well as the limited vinyl pre-orders, are up now over at the official website, which also serves to showcase the concept behind 'Pelagial', as well as divulging more information about the album. The CD version will be released in a 10-panel digipak with epic artwork by Seldon Hunt.
The Ocean will be returning to the UK for an exclusive show at The Borderline in London on Sunday 14th April 2013. The band will perform a full headline set of songs from their new album on Metal Blade along with older material from the likes of 2010's double release 'Heliocentric'/'Anthropocentric'.
To make the most of the weekend the band will be joined by some of the UK's finest progressive metal and hardcore: special guests Bossk will play main support as they continue their return to the stage; hotly tipped newcomers Empress will follow-up their tour with Cancer Bats; post-hardcore trio Shapes will air new material having only sporadically played live since their last album. As if that wasn't enough, The Ocean will bring Australia's LO! into the UK for a very rare show.
