American superstar Justin Timberlake put on a small-scale performance in Austin, Texas over the weekend, as he closed the SXSW Festival with an intimate gig.
Performing for a MySpace Secret Show, their third of the festival, Timberlake wowed fans and completely filled out the venue - with a steward declaring it closed before the gig had even started. This didn’t stop hundreds of vans hanging around hours after the 10pm show began, and even The Flaming Lips’ Wayne Coyne was fighting for a place in the venue - saying ‘the universe rewards the persistent’.
Ripping through a medley of tracks new and old - including ‘Suit & Tie’ and classic ‘Cry Me a River’ - he wowed the audience alongside his excellent backing band, and his performance has been hailed the best of the festival by some fans. One wrote:
It's fair to say, that was one of the best shows I've seen! @jtimberlake#sxsw
Timerlake also performed a load of other tracks, such as ‘Like You Love Me’, ‘Pusher Love Girl’, ‘Senorita’, ‘What Goes Around Comes Around’, and ‘Sexyback’. You can check out a video of some of the performance below.
The epic show - attended by just a reported 700 people - has got fans’ tongues wagging ahead of his headline slot alongside Jay-Z at this summer’s Wireless Festival. If you need tickets to Wireless, check the dates and links below the video.
