English folk star Laura Marling has slammed reality talent contest shows such as The X Factor - stating that they are ‘just horrible’.
The award-winning singer is definitely not a fan of the programs, and whilst speaking to the Today show on BBC Radio 4, she hit out at them - claiming that they ‘teach you to want fame’ and that they make her ‘sad’.
She told hosts:
“They are just horrible. It’s an awful part of our society. It’s teaching the wrong thing, I think, teaching that you want fame. It’s not fame that you want its satisfaction, which is a very different thing, but they sometimes go hand in hand. It makes me sad.”
Luckily for Marling, she won’t have to enter The X Factor to help her find fame - she’s put out three successful albums and is currently gearing up for the release of her fourth, ‘Once I Was an Eagle’ (out May 27th). If you’re a fan of Marling, look out for the record, and stay with Stereoboard for future updates - we’ll let you know if she decides to hit the road in support of the album.
