An International Space Station astronaut has recorded what is believed to be the first ever music video shot in space - and it features a performance of David Bowie’s ‘Space Oddity’!
Days before he’s due to return to earth, spaceman Chris Hadfield decided to make the most of his time left following a five month interstellar stay on the ISS, and recorded himself playing Bowie’s award-winning hit ‘Space Oddity’.
As with most things space-related, the video is cool as hell, and has been doing rounds on the net ever since it was posted yesterday. It’s received over half a million views on YouTube, and has been hailed as one of the ‘coolest things this year’ - and even ‘one of the coolest things any human being has ever done’.
The video has done wonders for Hadfield’s social media profile, too - he’s just hit 800,000 Twitter followers, and the number continues to rise every day. Check out his ‘Space Oddity’ tweet below.
With deference to the genius of David Bowie, here's Space Oddity, recorded on Station. A last glimpse of the World. youtube.com/watch?v=KaOC9d…
