The Rolling Stones' Keith Richards Owes Library £20,000 - For Fines Over 50 Years Old

Wednesday, 22 May 2013 Written by Elliott Batte

Although The Rolling Stones claim they can’t get no satisfaction, it seems Keith Richards did get some pleasure from reading books - and he’s confessed that he still owes library fees from over 50 years ago!

Richards and co. are much better known for the rockstar lifestyles they led, from taking drugs to having many a sexual encounter whilst out on tour. But, when he was younger, the guitarist was nowhere near as wild, and used to make frequent trips to the library - but it seems he still had a bad-boy aura about him, as he often forgot to pay!

Speaking to The Sun, Richards revealed:

“[My local library in Dartford, Kent] was a place where you get a hint there was a place called civilization. I still owe fines from about 50 years ago.”

The paper claims that ‘experts’ reckon the star may owe up to around £20,000 for the books - we wonder if he’ll ever stump up the cash?! If he’s (somehow) short of cash, we imagine he’ll make more than enough performing at this summer’s Glastonbury Festival, and the band’s two massive up and coming Hyde Park gigs. Need tickets? The Rolling Stones UK & Ireland Tour Dates are as follows
