Dua Lipa has released a new single and video.
Swan Song features on the soundtrack of new film Alita: Battle Angel, the cyberpunk action-adventure adaptation of Yukito Kishiro's manga Gunnm, from producers James Cameron and Jon Landau and director Robert Rodriguez. It hits UK cinemas on February 5.
The vocalist co-wrote the track with Justin Tranter, Kennedi Lykken, Mattias Larsson, Robin Fredriksson, and Tom Holkenborg, while its accompanying video was directed by Floria Sigismondi and features Lipa on the streets of Iron City in the middle of Alita's world. Sigismondi said of the clip:
"While in the film Alita is quite literally on a journey to discover who she is, her story serves as a really powerful allegory for any girl who doesn’t yet know her own power. I wanted to play with that same profound notion by dropping Dua into a facet of Alita's world and allowing Alita to serve as a surrogate that leads her on a journey to discover she’s stronger than she ever could have imagined."
Lipa released her self-titled debut album in 2017 via Warner Bros. Records. More recently she teamed up with Mark Ronson and Diplo for their Silk City single Electricity.
Catch her performing alongside Calvin Harris, Sam Smith and Rag'n'Bone Man at this year's Brit Awards.
