Grimes has announced a new album.
The follow up to 2015's 'Art Angels' is called 'Miss_Anthrop0cene' and via Instagram the electronic musician explained; "It’s a concept album about the anthropomorphic Goddess of climate Change: A psychedelic, space-dwelling demon/ beauty-Queen who relishes the end of the world."
"Each song will be a different embodiment of human extinction as depicted through a Pop star Demonology," she continued. "The first song ‘we appreciate power’, introduced the pro-AI-propaganda girl group who embody our potential enslavement/destruction at the hands of Artificial General intelligence."
Grimes went on to say that it's possible she'll put out a new EP or more "synth-based stuff" prior to the record's release as the new material is "mostly ethereal nu metal (ish), and I know a lot of ppl miss the synths and whatnot."
In mid-March she dropped the Pretty Dark demo, which she made clear was not meant for her album, but is part of an augmented reality musical that she's working on. Head here to check it out.
