Mark Lanegan has shared a new track from his forthcoming album.
‘Somebody’s Knocking’ is due for release on October 18 via Heavenly Recordings, with a headline UK and European tour set to follow later in the year.
The LP’s latest cut, Letters Never Sent, follows on from Stitch It Up and is a blend of psychedelia and guitar rock that merges twanging guitar lines with spaced out synths. Of this almost new wave style, the former Screaming Trees frontman said:
“I’ve always been into electronic music since I was a kid. I think the reason those elements have become more obvious in my music is that my tastes have changed as I’ve grown older. The bulk of what I listen to now is electronic… I have been a huge fan of New Order and Depeche Mode forever and have wanted to do a song along those lines for a long time - a blatantly catchy, old-school dance-type song.”
Lanegan’s latest album under his own steam is 2017’s ’Gargoyle’. In August 2018 he released ‘With Animals’, his collaboration with Duke Garwood.
