Friday, 06 September 2019 Written by Laura Johnson

Nicki Minaj has announced her retirement.

The 36-year-old award-winning rapper took to social media to break the news, giving the reason for the decision as wanting to start a family. Following some emotional responses from fans, she has said she will discuss the issue in more detail on her Beats 1 radio show Queen Radio.

Minaj has released four studio albums to date, the latest being 2018's 'Queen'. She also dropped new single Megatron in June and has racked up an impressive number of guest spots on other artists' tracks already this year, including Megan Thee Stallion's Hot Girl Summer and Avril Lavigne's Dumb Blonde.
