Sufjan Stevens has announced a new record.
‘Aporia’, due to arrive on March 27, is a collaboration with Lowell Brams, who as well as being a frequent collaborator in the past, is also Stevens' stepfather, one half of the titular subjects on his 2015 album ‘Carrie And Lowell’, and co-founder of Asthmatic Kitty Records, through which the new album will get a release.
The first cut from the LP, The Unlimited, is an atmospheric and dramatic piece of synthesised ambience, made sinister with a pounding beat and its kaleidoscopic, nature-infused video. It sets the tone for the rest of the record, which will also feature contributions from Thomas Bartlett, D.M. Smith, Nick Berry, John Ringhofer, James McAlister, Steve Moore of Sunn O))), Yuuki Matthews of the Shins, and Cat Martino.
