John Legend Samples Dr Dre's The Next Episode In New Single Actions

John Legend has released a new single, Actions.
The heartfelt love song, which he co-wrote with Cautious Clay, samples The Edge by David McCallum, which you may recognise as the same track Dr Dre sampled on his 2000 hit The Next Episode.
The singer-songwriter previewed Actions during his Instagram Live performance as part of the World Health Organisation's #TogetherAtHome concert series, arranged in response to the coronavirus quarantine. He also teased plans to release an album at some point this year. He said:
"Just so you guys know, I am putting out a new album this year. Everybody's home, you need stuff, you need music, you need TV, you need films. You need stuff to entertain you, so I’m going to put some music out.
"We're going to release some music. I don’t know what the schedule going to be like, we’re just going to start putting stuff out. We're in the process of mixing a lot of the stuff on the record. Luckily, I already wrote and recorded most of it."
Legend released his last full-length, 'A Legendary Christmas', in 2018. Earlier this year, meanwhile, he dropped the single Conversations in the Dark to coincide with his guest appearance on the NBC drama series This Is Us.
Legend will embark on his North American Bigger Love Tour this summer, opening on August 12 in Texas and including a September 22 concert at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles.
