Coffee marks the former Destiny's Child vocalist's first track in over a year, following 2019's anthemic Crown. It is a melodic R&B number that's delivered via Rowland's feathery vocals, which compliment a blend of bubbly drum pads and loose trap beats. Rowland said:
"To me, Coffee is about embracing your individuality, sexuality, or imperfections. Not comparing yourself to others. We need to celebrate ourselves more often — with this song, I want you to have yourself in mind. I want to remind women all over to reignite their magic!"
The song arrives with a Steven Gomillion-directed video that sees Rowland riding a horse along the shore of a tropical island, before she soaks up the sun with a troupe of statuesque models as they pose in time to rolling mid-tempo rhythms.
Rowland's last full-length release was 2013's 'Talk A Good Game'. She hasn't confirmed whether Coffee will appear on her highly anticipated fifth studio album, which is expected to arrive later this year.
