Malibu is an unassailable funk-pop banger. The German singer flexes her woozy vocals as she translates her growing feelings for a potential lover via a palette of liquifying synths and unshakable hooks.
The retro-futuristic track, that follows February's Reminds Me, arrives with an infomercial-style animated video that plays with a range of neon filters. She said:
"Malibu is a return to colour, the feeling of being in love, and the escapism pop that I love the most.
“After 'Clarity', I had cried all my tears and moved on, so this is a reflection of how I’ve been feeling. I just want Malibu to be a fizzy, refreshing drink that comes to you during this quarantine and makes you forget all your anxieties. I hope this can be a little vitamin shot that brightens your day.”
Petras is said to be working on her third album, the follow-up to 2019's 'Clarity', though details are yet to be confirmed.
