My Future marks the singer’s first new material since the release of No Time To Die, the title track for the new James Bond film that she penned with her brother and writing partner Finneas. In an email to fans, Eilish said:
"We wrote this at the very beginning of quarantine. it’s a song that’s really really personal and special to me. when we wrote this song, it was exactly where my head was at - hopeful, excited and a craaaazy amount of self-reflection and self-growth. but recently it has also taken on a lot of new meaning in the context of what’s happening in the world now. i hope you can all find meaning in it for yourselves.”
The new song begins as a stripped back soulful piano-led number with Eilish's beautifully reserved vocals at the forefront, but at the halfway mark the tone shifts in a more more upbeat direction with the introduction of playful beats. Check out the track's magical animated video below.
Eilish released her Grammy-winning debut album, 'When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?', in March 2019. She was set to carry on supporting it with the Where Do We Go? World Tour throughout this year, with shows booked in North America, the UK and Europe. However, all dates have been postponed due to COVID-19.
