Jefferson Starship Share New Song What Are We Waiting For From Upcoming 'Mother Of The Sun' EP

Jefferson Starship have released a new song.
What Are We Waiting For will appear on the legendary psych-rockers' upcoming 'Mother Of The Sun' EP, which is due out on August 21 through Golden Robot Records. It follows the previously shared single It's About Time and was inspired by co-founder Paul Kantner, who died in 2016.
'Mother Of The Sun' will serve as the first collection of new songs in 12 years from the band, now currently consisting of David Freiberg, who has been part of the group since 1974 and Donny Baldwin who joined in 1982, with Cathy Richardson, Chris Smith, and Jude Gold.
Two songs were co-written by original members Grace Slick and Marty Balin, who passed away in 2018, while bassist Pete Sears returns to play bass on three tracks. Richardson said:
"Paul Kantner was our bandleader and the visionary who kept Jefferson Starship going through so many eras. He inspired so much about this record, from the messages in the lyrics to the title and album art to the collaborative process of creating music as a band with some of his original muses - Grace, Marty, and Pete. 'Mother of the Sun' is dedicated to PK."
The rallying What Are We Waiting For builds to a rousing crescendo, marrying meandering guitars and unobtrusive drums with spacey synths and soaring vocals. It comes accompanied by a lyric video, viewable below.
