Lambchop have shared details of their new album.
'Showtunes' will arrive on May 21 via Merge/City Slang and feature the newly unveiled lead single A Chef's Kiss, a sombre and atmospheric piano-led offering.
Singer-songwriter Kurt Wagner describes the track as, "a reflection on the temporal nature of life and ultimately of song itself. A chef's kiss, being a gesture toward something perfected or well done, even loved."
The LP was recorded remotely during the 2020 COVID-19 lockdown period, with collaborators Ryan Olson of Gayngs and Poliça, James McNew of Yo La Tengo, co-producer Jeremy Ferguson, and DJ Twit One, among others. It follows the 2020 covers album 'Trip' and their last fully-fledged Lampchop full-length, 'This (Is What I Wanted to Tell You)', released in 2019.
The announcement comes paired with a trailer, viewable below along with the record's artwork and tracklist.
'Showtunes' tracklist:
1. A Chef's Kiss
2. Drop C
3. Papa Was a Rolling Stone Journalist
4. Fuku
5. Unknown Man
6. Blue Leo
7. Impossible Meatballs
8. The Last Benedict
