Gojira Continue To Tease 'Fortitude' With New Track Amazonia

Monday, 29 March 2021 Written by Jon Stickler

Gojira have shared a new song, Amazonia.

As the title suggests, the powerful single reflects on the destruction of the Amazon rainforest and serves as the third preview of the French metal band's upcoming LP, 'Fortitude', due out on April 30 via Roadrunner Records.

Following Born For One Thing and Another World, the track finds the band incorporating indigenous folk instruments into the riff-heavy offering. It comes paired with a video created by Charles De Meyer in collaboration with filmmakers Vincent Moon, Hauxplay, Jennifer Kumiko Hayashi, and Midia Ninja.

Proceeds from the single will go to the Articulation of Indigenous Peoples of Brazil (AIPD), which supports indigenous communities and victims of deforestation. They've also launched two fundraising initiatives. The band said:

"Our new song Amazonia is available now! Proceeds from the song will benefit the Articulation of Indigenous Peoples of Brazil (APIB) who advocate for environmental and cultural rights of indigenous tribes in the Amazon who have suffered immensely - victims of deforestation, land loss, forced labor, violence, and harassment."

Gojira will support Deftones on their rescheduled North American tour this summer.
