Pixies have cancelled their upcoming US tour.
The legendary alt-rock band were due to kick off the run on September 10 in Port Chester and conclude it in Tulsa on September 26. In a statement posted to social media, they said:
"Regretfully, we announce today that we are cancelling our 11-date U.S. September run.
"We have determined that with the current surge in COVID cases - made worse by the Delta variant - that this is the right decision for our fans and crew members' safety, as well as our own.
"Ticket holders can obtain refunds from point of purchase.
"We ask that our fans stay sfe and healthy and we hope to see you all soon.
"La la love you, PIXIES."
PIXIES' last album was 2019's 'Beneath The Eyrie', which they followed up with two companion EPs, 'Beneath The Eyrie Demos: Pt. 1' and 'Beneath The Eyrie Demos: Pt. 2'. They also put out a limited edition double a-side single in October featuring new song Hear Me Out — recorded during the 'Beneath The Eyrie' sessions — and a cover of T.Rex's Mambo Sun.
