The string-laded disco-pop groove was co-penned with Grammy Award-winning songwriter MNEK and Little Mix member Jade Thirwell.
It marks the multi-award-winning actor, singer, director, composer, and playwright's debut track for Island UK and Republic Records, with the star describing it as, "a song that is inspired by my life and everything I’ve gone through to get here.". Commenting further, he added:
"Music is my first love. I grew up singing in the church. When I first put out commercial music in 1997, the industry was not ready for all this Black Boy Joy! But luckily the world has caught up. I could not be more thrilled to entrust this next chapter of my music career to the Island/Republic team. Make way children! Daddy’s back."
It also serves as the first taste of his as-yet-unannounced fifth studio album, expected in 2022, though a released date is still to be confirmed. Later in October, he'll release his memoir, Unprotected, and make his directorial film debut with the coming-of-age romantic comedy What If, also due in 2022.
