Shamir has revealed details of his eighth studio album.
The follow-up to his 2020 self-titled LP is called 'Heterosexuality' and will arrive on February 11. The Philly-based artist said:
"I think this album is me finally acknowledging my trauma. Everyone knows I’ve been through so much shit and I kind of just rammed through, without really acknowledging the actual trauma that I do feel on almost a daily basis."
Produced by Hollow Comet of Strange Ranger, the record will include the previously unveiled lead single, Gay Agenda, along with the newly shared track Cisgender. It's an intense synth-pop number that shifts into a pounding industrial aesthetic after a haunting fuzz-drenched introduction. Head below to view its Jenny He-directed video.
Shamir will join Courtney Barnett on select tour dates early in 2022.
