Chvrches, Robert Smith Of The Cure And Berwyn Confirmed To Perform At The NME Awards 2022

More performers have been announced for this year's NME Awards.
Chvrches (pictured), The Cure's Robert Smith and rapper Berwyn will appear alongside the previously confirmed Griff, Sam Fender, Rina Sawayama, and Halsey, who'll receive the Innovation Award, at London's O2 Academy Brixton on March 2.
Comedian, actress and writer Daisy May Cooper, and rapper, presenter and BBC Radio 1Xtra DJ Lady Leshurr will present the ceremony, sponsored by social music creation platform BandLab. Lady Leshurr said:
"To go from being on the front cover of NME in 2016, to now hosting it 6 years later is INCREDIBLE to say the least!! I am so thrilled to be hosting such an important music awards show in 2022. This is going to be my first time presenting on such a huge platform like this, so I’m nervous but excited, and know I’ll be able to provide great entertainment and giggles for all!"
Chvrches put out their latest album, 'Screen Violence', in summer 2021, following up 2018's 'Love Is Dead'. They'll support the record with a UK tour in March. Vocalist Lauren Mayberry commented:
"Getting to work with Robert on 'Screen Violence' was incredible, and we're really excited to finally be able to play How Not To Drown live with him. Releasing an album in this time period has been surreal, in good ways and bad, because the pandemic landscape is so different. We've never even met Robert in real life, so the NME Awards will be a real red letter day."
In addition to working with Chvrches, Robert Smith remixed Deftones' track Teenager for the Sacramento giants' 'White Pony' remix album, 'Black Stallion', in 2020. The Cure will embark on a UK and European tour in this autumn.
Berwyn put out his debut mixtape, 'DEMOTAPE/VEGA', in 2020. Its predecessor, 'Tape 2/Fomalhaut', arrived in summer 2021.
