Robert Glasper has shared details of a new album.
'Black Radio III' will arrive on February 25 via Loma Vista Recordings and include the Grammy Award-winning track, Better Than I Imagined featuring H.E.R and Meshell Ndgeocello, and the D Smoke and Tiffany Gouché collaboration Shine.
As a further preview, Glasper has dropped a third advance single called Black Superhero, which draws inspiration from jazz, rock and hip hop, while boasting slick, instantly recognisable bars from Killer Mike, along with contributions from BJ The Chicago Kid, and Big K.R.I.T.
Head below to watch the accompanying Charlie Buhler-directed video, filmed in Los Angeles. The multiple Grammy Award-winner and musician will debut the track live on The Tonight Show on January 17, with some special guests, and backed by The Roots.
Other big names set to appear on the record include Q-Tip, Jennifer Hudson, Yebba, Common, Ty Dolla $Ign, Esperanza Spalding, Ant Clemons, India.Arie and more. It's the third instalment in Glasper's series, following 2012's 'Black Radio' and 2013's 'Black Radio II', while his last studio album was 2020's 'Dinner Party' LP, a collaborative effort with Terrace Martin, Kamasi Washington and 9th Wonder. He said:
"I couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate the 10 year anniversary of 'Black Radio' than by releasing 'Black Radio III'. To debut a live performance of Black Superhero on The Tonight Show with some of my own heroes is really special to me. Hopefully, it inspires more to come."
Glasper will play two London gigs at Koko on April 9 and 10. He also has US and European dates in the diary. Tickets are on sale now.
