Ibibio Sound Machine have shared details of their fourth album.
'Electricity' was produced by the Grammy Award-winning Hot Chip and will arrive on March 25 via Merge Records. It follows the London group's 2019 LP 'Doko Mien' and 2020's 'Live At Earth', and marks the first time they've worked with external producers since forming in 2013. Hot Chip said:
"Prior to the sessions, we had run into Ibibio Sound Machine at festivals and loved watching them perform. There are very talented musicians throughout the band, and Eno is a massively charismatic, skilled singer. The sessions were hugely rewarding as Ibibio brought in friends and collaborators to add a wide array of different instruments—some of which were unfamiliar to us. The songs on this record are uniformly great, and we were really happy to be a part of making it."
Along with the announcement, they've dropped a new groove-driven single, All That You Want, which fuses electronic elements with Afrobeat, gospel and funk. It follows the record's title track, released last November. Press play below.
The band will celebrate the LP's release with an instore performance at Rough Trade East in London on March 28, prior to embarking on a UK tour. Tickets are on sale now.
