Dolly Parton, Pat Benatar, Eminem, Devo Among Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame 2022 Nominees

Wednesday, 02 February 2022 Written by Laura Johnson

The nominees for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 2022 have been announced.

Dolly Parton, Pat Benatar, Eminem, and Devo are among those in the running, with Beck, Kate Bush, Duran Duran, Eurythmics, Judas Priest, Fela Kuti, MC5, New York Dolls, Rage Against The Machine, Lionel Richie, Carly Simon, A Tribe Called Quest, and Dionne Warwick also up for induction.

Artists are eligible for inclusion in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 25 years after the release of their first official recording. Fans can cast their votes up until April 29 at vote.rockhall.com, with the class of 2022 due to be announced in May and an induction ceremony set to follow in Cleveland, Ohio in the autumn.

UPDATE March 14: Dolly Parton has withdrawn from the ballot with the below statement:

"Dolly here! Even though I am extremely flattered and grateful to be nominated for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, I don't feel that I have earned that right. I really do not want votes to be split because of me, so I must respectfully bow out. I do hope that the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame will understand and be willing to consider me again - if I'm ever worthy. This has, however, inspired me to put out a hopefully great rock 'n' roll album at some point in the future, which I have always wanted to do! My husband is a total rock 'n' roll freak, and has always encouraged me to do one. I wish all of the nominees good luck and thank you again for the compliment. Rock on!"

UPDATE March 17: The Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame responded with the below statement to Parton's withdrawal.

UPDATE April 29: While talking with NPR's Morning Edition, Parton said that if she did get inducted she would "accept gracefully", and admitted that her refusal came from her misunderstanding that only rock acts should be nominated.
