Gruff Rhys has released a new track, People Are Pissed.
Released via Rough Trade Records, the piano-based track offers a pulsing beat and New Order-esque synths. It's currently out digitally with pre-orders available for a limited edition cassette designed by frequent collaborator Mark James. Rhys said:
"The lyrics were basically inspired by the widespread anger I - and many other people felt towards the incompetence and arrogance of the Johnson regime during the lockdowns - not that I feel any different now. I mean the words go off on one like most of my songs, but that was the seed of the idea."
It follows the Super Furry Animals vocalist's seventh solo LP, 'Seeking New Gods', released in 2021. Rhys will perform in Cardiff as part of the BBC 6 Music Festival on April 3, on a bill with Cat Power and Father John Misty. He also has a run of European dates in the diary. Head here for details.
