The Rolling Stones have been forced to cancel shows in Amsterdam and Switzerland due to Mick Jagger testing positive for coronavirus.
The 78-year-old vocalist started to develop symptoms after arriving at the Johan Cruijff Arena in the Dutch capital yesterday (June 13), with the band also pulling their upcoming concert in Bern, Switzerland on June 17.
The legendary group, which also features guitarists Keith Richards and Ronnie Wood, with Steve Jordan on drums, are on the road for their SIXTY Tour, celebrating their 60th anniversary with concerts across mainland Europe.
They're scheduled to play in Milan, Italy on June 21, with a return to London as part of the BST Hyde Park festival lined up for Saturday June 25, and a second date on July 3. Part of a statement on their social media reads:
"The Rolling Stones are deeply sorry for this postponement, but the safety of the audience, fellow musicians and the touring crew has to take priority."
Jagger also personally apologised to fans on Twitter yesterday, writing: "I'm so sorry that we’ve had to postpone the Amsterdam show with such short notice tonight.
"I have unfortunately just tested positive for Covid. We aim to reschedule the date ASAP and get back as soon as we can. Thank you for your patience and understanding. Mick."
