The Hold Steady have announced a new album, 'The Price Of Progress'.
It will arrive on March 31 through the band's Positive Jams label via Thirty Tigers. It was recorded with Bonny Light Horseman leader and Taylor Swift collaborator Josh Kaufman, who also produced its predecessor, 2021's 'Open Door Policy'.
The LP is previewed by the powerful, driving rocker Sideways Skull. Check it out below, alongside the record's artwork and tracklist. Frontman Craig Finn commented:
"Sideways Skull is a rocking song about rock and rollers. In this case, they’ve been taken out of the game for a bit of rest, but still keep their dreams alive as they discuss past glories. We loved the big sound of this when Tad Kubler brought it into the band, and the studio performance of it felt especially joyful. We’re happy to put this forth as a first look at 'The Price Of Progress', and the album’s title even comes from this song."
The Hold Steady will return to the UK for three performances in March as part of The Weekender, their annual multi-night event for UK fans. They also have a handful of US shows in the diary.
In May 2022, meanwhile, Finn put out his fifth solo album, 'A Legacy Of Rentals'.
