Steve Lamacq will hit the road with BBC Radio 6 Music to celebrate 10 years of Independent Venue Week.
The tour will see the DJ broadcasting from a different UK independent art and music venue each day for a series of special shows. Stops include Ramsgate Music Hall on January 30, Hare And Hounds in Birmingham on January 31, Norwich Arts Centre on February 1, KU Stockton on February 2, and Stereo in Glasgow on February 3.
The gigs will feature performances from Irish garage punks Sprints, Bristol-based producer Grove, Scottish three-piece Young Fathers, Irish band The Murder Capital, and Britpop veterans Suede, respectively, with all the artists set to join Lammo in conversation before their live set. He said:
"Independent Venue Week has always played a vital role in helping grassroots venues at a financially perilous time of year. But it’s even more essential now, as venues try and bounce back from the COVID lockdowns and cope with the pressures of the current cost of living situation. But it’s also a great time to get out and see some new and emerging artists before they hit the summer festival stages. There’s a terrific variety of music on offer.
"We’ve also lined up some of our own favourite new and established acts for a week of gigs in small independent venues around the country and will be touring the UK, presenting the BBC Radio 6 Music radio show from a different location every day."
The annual seven-day Independent Venue Week will celebrate its 10th anniversary between January 30 and February 5, with over 1,000 live events scheduled across more than 260 venues around the country. Head here for more details.
