Philip Selway of Radiohead has shared a new track, Picking Up Pieces.
The propulsive, hypnotic song features a string arrangement along with guitar work from Portishead's Adrian Utley. It serves as the second preview of Selway's new solo album, 'Strange Dance', which is scheduled to arrive on February 24 via Bella Union.
Head below to view its video, directed by William Williamson, with cinematography by Adric Watson. It continues the story that began with the clip for the record's lead single, Check For Signs Of Life, released in October 2022. Selway said:
"Picking Up Pieces is a song about the masking that we do when we’re young adults. It’s a time of life when your sense of identity can feel shaky, you can feel anxious about making the grade, and life can feel that it’s spinning out of control, but you try to hide this from everyone."
Radiohead's last record, meanwhile, was 2016's 'A Moon Shaped Pool'. The band's frontman Thom Yorke and guitarist Jonny Greenwood have been busy with their new project The Smile, who put out their debut full-length, 'A Light For Attracting Attention', in May.
