It's nothing to do with the city’s newfound fame due to its football club being owned by Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, who regularly attend home games. It’s because multi-venue festival Focus Wales is back for its 12th year.
The North Wales borough will host 250 artists across 20 stages, including Billy Nomates, Squid, The Coral, Dream Wife, The Joy Formidable, Adwaith, Alaskalaska, Afro Cluster, Gallops, HMS Morris, and Mellt, among many others.
Continuing the event’s commitment to diversity, in addition to representing Welsh talent, the line-up is comprised of acts from around the world, including Australia, Austria, Balearics, Belgium, Canada, Catalonie, England, France, Guinea, Hong Kong, India, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Liechtenstein, Madagascar, Sweden, Taiwan, The Netherlands, Ukraine and the US.

As well as the live music line-up, Focus Wales will once again host a music conference, which includes industry panels featuring discussions with Cindy Castillo (Mad Cool Festival, Spain), Jean-Louis Brossard (Trans Musicales, France), Ralf Niemczyk (Rolling Stone, Germany), Andrea Caswell (MMF Canada), and Mark Davyd (Music Venue Trust), to name a few.
The Focus Wales Film Festival will also return on May 5 and 6 inside Theatr Ial at Coleg Cambria to showcase the best short films from Wales and beyond, plus a selection of full-length features. It’s supported by Ffilm Cymru and 73 Degree Films.
Never ones to miss a party, Stereoboard is sponsoring the 2nd stage at The Rockin' Chair (formerly Central Station) on the Friday and Saturday, where the line-up includes Gallops DJs, Afro Cluster, Walt Disco, Murder Club and many more.
