Explosions In The Sky have announced their first album in seven years.

'End' will arrive through Bella Union on September 15, following up the Texas post-rock quartet's 2016 LP 'The Wilderness', and their work on 2021's 'Big Bend', the soundtrack to the Public Television nature documentary of the same name.

Comprising seven tracks that explore themes of life and death, it's led by the glorious opening song and first single, Ten Billion People, which swells from a glitchy, skittering groove to a grand, soaring climax. The band explained:

"Our starting point was the concept of an ending—death, or the end of a friendship or relationship. Every song comes from a story, or an idea one of us has had that we’ve all expanded on and made its own world. Maybe it’s our nature, but we kept feeling that the album title was ultimately open to a lot more interpretation—the end of a thing or a time can mean a stop, but it can also mean a beginning, and what happens after one thing ends might pale in comparison to what it becomes next."

Earlier in 2023, the band announced an expansive 26-city international tour, kicking off with a run of US shows between September 15 and October 5. Following that, they'll head to Dublin, Manchester, London, and major cities across Europe.

Tickets for The End Tour are on sale now. The run marks the instrumental band's first live dates since 2019.

'End' tracklist:

1. Ten Billion People
2. Moving On
3. Loved Ones
4. Peace or Quiet
5. All Mountains
6. The Fight
7. It’s Never Going To Stop
