Charli XCX has teamed up with Sam Smith for their first collaborative single, In The City.
Offering club-ready beats, the dance-pop track features vocals from both British artists. The Beg for You singer commented:
"The song is about finding the people you truly love and connect with through wild nights out and partying in magical places. It’s about feeling accepted, the magnificence of being welcomed into queer spaces and those once in a lifetime people you get to meet when you’re there."
Co-produced by Charli XCX with Ilya, A. G. Cook, Omer Fedi, and the 1975's George Daniel, she first hinted at the team-up in the video for Speed Drive, her contribution to 'Barbie The Album', released in August. She put out her most recent album, 'Crash', in 2022.
Sam Smith, meanwhile, will kick off a tour of Australia and New Zealand later in October. They release their latest album, 'Gloria', back in January. He collaborated with Madonna on Vulgar in June, and Calvin Harris on Desire in August.
