Norah Jones Announces Ninth Studio Album 'Visions', Shares New Single Running

Norah Jones has announced a new album.
'Visions', the follow-up to 2021's 'I Dream of Christmas', will arrive on March 8 through Blue Note/EMI. The record is a collaboration with producer and multi-instrumentalist Leon Michels, who worked with Jones on its predecessor, and also features contributions from trumpeter Dave Guy, bassist Jesse Murphy, and drummers Brian Blade and Homer Steinweiss.
As a preview, Jones has shared the album's lead single, Running, a genre-blurring track led by her captivating storytelling. It features the singer-songwriter on vocals, piano, guitar and bass, and Michels on drums and baritone saxophone. Jones said:
“The reason I called the album Visions is because a lot of the ideas came in the middle of the night or in that moment right before sleep, and ‘Running’ was one of them where you're half asleep and kind of jolted awake.
“We did most of the songs in the same way where I was at the piano or on guitar and Leon was playing drums and we were just jamming on stuff. I like the rawness between me and Leon, the way it sounds kind of garage-y but also kind of soulful, because that's where he's coming from, but also not overly perfected.”
Alongside news of the album, Jones has announced a spring US tour that will begin at the MGM Music Hall at Fenway in Boston on May 6. Support will come from Emily King on the majority of dates. Tickets go on general sale at 10am local time on January 25.
She will also appear at BottleRock Napa Valley on May 24 and Freihofer’s Saratoga Jazz Festival on June 30.
