The Libertines Continue To Tease Upcoming Album With New Single Shiver

The Libertines have released a new single.
Shiver is the latest preview of their new album, 'All Quiet On The Eastern Esplanade', following cuts Run, Run, Run and Night Of The Hunter. The track was co-written by Peter Doherty and Carl Barât. The latter said: “Peter had a song and I had a song and we mashed them up and did it collaboratively.”
“I would probably find it difficult to work out who did what because we were both there the whole time through its creation," added Doherty. "It should really be called ‘The Last Dream Of Every Dying Soldier’, but everyone liked the title ‘Shiver’.”
The song finds both guitarist-vocalists delivering smooth and impassioned storytelling vocals atop a melodic indie-rock soundscape complete with strings. The single's Alexander Brown-directed video revolves around the funeral of a pearly king in Margate and features characters from the two previous tracks' videos, who also feature on the sleeve art for the new album.
The follow-up to 2015's 'Anthems For Doomed Youth' will arrive on March 8 through EMI. They'll preview it during a UK tour of intimate venues that begins on January 24 in Stockton-on-Tees.
