Iron and Wine will release a new album this spring.
The follow-up to 2017's 'Beast Epic' LP, 2018's 'Weed Garden' EP and 2022's 'Lori' EP is called 'Light Verse' and will arrive through Sub Pop on April 26. The band posted the following statement about the record to their social media:
"Fashioned as an album that should be taken as a whole, it sounds lovingly handmade and self-assured as a secret handshake. Track by track, its equal parts elegy kaleidoscope, truth, and dare.
"For these new songs, Beam lyrically once again takes focus on a series of both fictional and personal insights, filled with desperate characters and"
The record's 10 tracks were produced by the band’s singer-songwriter Sam Beam, with mixing and engineering handled by Dave Way at Waystation and Silent Zoo Studios in Los Angeles.
Fiona Apple contributes vocals to All In Good Time, with a 24-piece orchestra featuring on four tracks, and contributions throughout from Tyler Chester (keyboards), Sebastian Steinberg (bass), David Garza (guitar), Griffin Goldsmith, Beth Goodfellow, Kyle Crane (all drums/percussion) and Paul Cartwright (strings).
As a preview, head below to check out the album's artwork, tracklist and opening track, You Never Know. The finger-picked guitar-based track builds throughout to incorporate rousing strings and more of the band to give Beam's captivating storytelling vocals the full-blown indie-folk backing they deserve, before pulling back again to finish.
Iron and Wine will support the new record with a North American tour that will run throughout July and August. Tickets go on general sale at 10am on Friday (February 9).
