The Gaslight Anthem Announce New EP 'History Books - Short Stories' And Summer North American Tour

The Gaslight Anthem have announced a new EP.
The New Jersey rockers will release 'History Books – Short Stories' through their own Rich Mahogany Recordings label via Thirty Tigers this Friday (March 22). It'll comprise four tracks, two of which are stripped back acoustic versions of songs from their 2023 album, 'History Books'.
The bare-bones renditions of both the LP's title track and Positive Charge will be joined by a re-recording of 2008's Blue Jeans & White T-Shirts, and a cover of Billie Eilish's Ocean Eyes, which the band have teased below. On the new version, frontman Brian Fallon commented:
"I was driving my daughter to school and she played it for me on the way and I really took to the song. Then one day we were talking ideas for a cover with our friends and I said, ‘Wouldn’t it be cool to do a heavier version of Ocean Eyes?’ I tried it out and everybody loved the idea."
The announcement comes amid their European tour, which continues with a show in Glasgow tonight (March 18), with festival appearances lined up into the summer, including a headline slot at 2000trees in July.
Following that, they'll kick off The History Books Tour across North America on July 26 in Denver, Colorado, with dates scheduled through to September 1, when it will wrap up in Detroit, Michigan.
Support will come from Joyce Manor, with The Dirty Nil joining between July 26 and August 11, and Pinkshift taking over from them between August 13 and September 1. Tickets go on general sale at 10am local time on Friday (March 22).
The Gaslight Anthem will also return to their home state of New Jersey to join Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band at Asbury Park's Sea.Hear.Now Festival on September 15.
