Joan Wasser, aka Joan As Police Woman, has laid out plans for her 10th studio album.
News of 'Lemons, Limes & Orchids' arrives alongside the American musician and singer-songwriter's new single, Long For Ruin, a soulful indie-rock track guided by sobering, melancholic vocals. Commenting on the song, Wasser said:
"This song refers to the human race’s seemingly willful move away from ourselves. Away from our interest in listening, in finding commonalities and compassion, communication and love. We seem intent on destroying ourselves. We seem unwilling to share resources. We seem to have turned away from ourselves and in turn each other."
The follow-up to 2021's 'The Solution Is Restless', her collaborative record with the late Afrobeat pioneer Tony Allen and Mercury-nominated guitarist Dave Okumu, will arrive on September 20 via PIAS.
She continued: "I was ready to make an album that truly featured my voice. The basics were recorded like they used to be - with me singing live along with the band. My good friend told me this is the sexiest album I’ve ever made. Honestly, I think she’s right."
Wasser will support the record with a UK and European tour in the autumn, which includes a date at London's Union Chapel on October 9 and a show in Cardiff as part of Llais festival on October 11. Tickets are on sale now.
