Placebo have shared details of a new documentary film, This Search For Meaning.
Directed by Scottish filmmaker Oscar Sansom, the feature-length looks back at the alt-rock band's development during the macho Britpop scene of the '90s while also exploring themes and ideas present in their music, tracing their origins as a band and individuals.
Featuring conversations with Placebo members Brian Molko and Stefan Olsdal, it'll also look at issues such as surveillance, culture and scrutiny, sexuality and gender identity, addiction and trauma as well as the climate crisis. Other notable figures interviewed include Shirley Manson of Garbage, Robbie Williams, Yungblud, Joe Talbot from IDLES and Rebecca Lucy Taylor aka Self Esteem.
In addition to archive footage, the documentary also boasts unique performances of tracks from the band's 2022 album, 'Never Let Me Go', recorded at Twickenham Film Studios. Check out a teaser trailer below, ahead of its theatrical release in September.
Placebo released their first live release, 'Collapse Into Never (Live In Europe 2023)', last December.
