Bill Wyman has announced details of a new solo album.

'Drive My Car' marks The Rolling Stones' former bassist's first full-length release in nine years, and his ninth solo record overall. It was recorded at Wyman's home studio with frequent collaborators Terry Taylor on guitar and Paul Beavis on drums, plus a new new face, Dutch guitarist Hans Theesink.

The record is due out on August 9 and comprises 10 songs, five of which were penned by Wyman. There's also covers of Bob Dylan's Thunder On The Mountain, Taj Mahal's Light Rain and John Prine's Ain't Hurtin' Nobody. Wyman said:

"It’s not something I do every day, but sometimes I just see a guitar in the corner of the room, pick it up to play around and then something clicks into place."

As a preview, stream the title track, a rhythm and blues offering that's driven by an urgent, snappy groove, below.

Wyman's last album was 2015's 'Back To Basics'. He also contributed bass to the tracks Live By The Sword and Get Close on The Rolling Stones' 2023 LP 'Hackney Diamonds'.
