Keith Urban has announced his first new album in four years.
The follow-up to 2020's 'The Speed Of Now Part 1' is titled 'High' and will arrive on September 20, marking the Grammy Award-winning country superstar's 12th studio album. Comprising 12 tracks that explore what it is to be alive, human connection, cutting loose, hope and nostalgia, it'll include the previously unveiled singles Straight Line, Messed Up As Me and Go Home W U with Lainey Wilson. Urban said:
"I’ve always been drawn toward the subject of living in the moment, because it’s all there is, and it’s hard to do. And these days with so much ‘content’ flying at us, it can feel like drinking from a fire hose."
On the record's title, he continued: "What makes you ‘high’ can mean whatever you want it to mean. It might be physical, spiritual, herbal, meditative, chemical or musical, but it’s definitely a place of utopia.
"For me it’s my family, my friends, and this rollercoaster musical journey I’m on. Playing guitar, writing songs and the place where I always feel high – playing live. Every night I get a chance to bring an energy and a release to people."
Alongside news of the record, Urban has shared another of its tracks, the uplifting party anthem Wildside, which is loosely based on Joan Cusack’s principal role in the 2004 film School Of Rock.
The announcement comes ahead of the 56-year-old's headline appearance at Summerfest in Milwaukee, and a handful of other shows in North America. In October, he'll play a residency at the Fontainebleau Las Vegas, with a second run beginning in February 2025. Tickets are on sale now.
