Pixies have announced a new studio album.
'The Night The Zombies Came' will arrive through BMG on October 25 and finds the band reuniting with English producer Tom Dalgety, who also helmed their previous three records: 2022's 'Doggerel', 2019's 'Beneath The Eyrie' and 2016’s 'Head Carrier'.
Featuring 13 tracks, it was recorded at Guilford Sound studio in Vermont, and is their first album with new bassist Emma Richardson, formerly of Band Of Skulls — the group's first British member. Songwriter-vocalist-guitarist Black Francis explained:
"Fragments that are related and juxtaposed with other fragments in other songs. And in a collection of songs in a so-called LP, you end up making a kind of movie."
To coincide with the news, the Boston alt-rock legends have shared a new single from the LP, Chicken, which is more of an atmospheric, rock ballad compared to their previous single, You're So Impatient.
The announcement comes ahead of Pixies' UK and European tour, which includes a set at All Points East in London supporting LCD Soundsystem, and an appearance at Victorious Festival, Portsmouth in August. They'll also support Pearl Jam in Australia and New Zealand later this year. Tickets are on sale now.
