Morrissey has confirmed a North American tour for the fall.
The former Smiths vocalist turned solo artist will kick off the run of dates on Halloween (October 31) in Houston, Texas, before stops in Dallas, Little Rock, Birmingham, Knoxville, Durham, Baltimore, Newark, Atlantic City, Rochester, Niagra Falls, Flint, Indianapolis and Waukegan. Commenting on the 14-date trek, Morrissey's touring guitarist Jesse Tobias said:
"There is currently something happening, a finesse and ferocity coming from Morrissey and the band that is unparalleled to anything I’ve seen in my tenure as Morrissey’s guitarist for over 21 years. It’s an infectious excitement coming from him directly manifesting through the band and into the audience leaving everyone in a euphoric state.
"As much as he and the band have historically been put against the ropes, doubted, disregarded and judged while others are given a free pass, Morrissey and the band will liberate and astound everyone with our forthcoming releases and shows... that's if you are open to music as a method for change and genuine excitement."
Tickets go on general sale at 10am local time on Friday (August 9). The shows follow on from the singer-songwriter's two-night residency at the House Of Blues inside Mandalay Bay, Las Vegas in July.
The 65-year-old recently revealed that he has bought back the rights to two of his albums, following a legal battle with the label Capitol Records. Due to the long-running dispute, his 'Bonfire Of Teenagers' LP is still unreleased, despite being completed in 2021. A post on the artist's website reads:
“Morrissey has paid the exit fee to Capitol Records in order to return both WORLD PEACE IS NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS and BONFIRE OF TEENAGERS albums back to him.
“It’s been a long, hard, bloody war. Few would make it out alive, and … I’m no exception. Morrissey remains unsigned."
His most recent album is 2020's 'I Am Not A Dog On A Chain'.
