Dr. Dre has revealed that he is producing a Snoop Dogg album for the first time in over 30 years.
'Missionary' is set to arrive in the fall, offering a return to the sound of the West Coast rapper's 1993 debut album, 'Doggystyle', also produced by Dre.
In a new interview with Entertainment Tonight, the legendary rapper and producer revealed that the record will feature Sting, among other currently unnamed guests. He said:
"On another note, me and Snoop working together again, and it’s been 30 years. Believe it or not I’ve only produced one album on Snoop, which was 'Doggystyle' and that was 30 years ago. We done a lot of things in between — songs and performances and film and things of that nature — but this is my first time actually producing an entire album on him."
Confirming that the album boasts an "amazing roster" of artists, he continued: "We have Sting on the song. Man, it’s an amazing roster of artists that’s on this album. I shouldn’t have revealed that, to be honest."
"This one’s gonna show a different level of maturity with his lyrics and with my music. I feel like this is some of the best music I’ve done in my career."
First teased back in March, the album looks set to be released in November, though an exact date is still to be confirmed. Dre added: "I wanted 14 songs, Snoop wants 16, so we have that thing happening. I'm on song number 11 as far as the mixes go. I have to be done and delivered by September 1 to have a November release."
The two hip hop giants recently performed together at the Paris 2024 Olympics closing ceremony, which also featured Billie Eilish and Red Hot Chili Peppers.
Snoop's most recent solo studio album is 2022's 'BODR' (an abbreviation for Bacc On Death Row).
