Paul Heaton has released another single from his upcoming album.
Quicksand marks the second preview of 'The Mighty Several', due out on October 11 through the EMI label. The piano-led ska-pop track features Heaton's live singing partner Rianne Downey and follows on from the record's lead single, Fish 'N' Chip Supper. In a statement, Heaton said:
"It’s about a bar in Limburg, Germany, where I partly wrote Liar’s Bar (Beautiful South track, 1996). Two friends, Sigrund and Wolfgang, took myself and (my wife) Linda back there and as soon as I walked in, I thought, ‘this place is like quicksand’. They were supposed to get us on a bus back to our village, and we just stayed and stayed and stayed. Those places are very difficult to leave."
The former Beautiful South and Housemartins vocalist will tour the UK in the winter, with support from special guests The Zutons. He'll also play BBC Radio 2 In The Park in September. Tickets are on sale now.
